Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the spcaLA's Friends for Life Summer Camp information page. We are glad to see that you are interested in our 7th annual summer camp. Please be advised that the name Camp Pedee is no longer being used, but spcaLA's summer camp is still the same program!

Please read the following information carefully. To read our Frequently Asked Questions, please CLICK HERE.

spcaLA's Friends for Life Summer Camp is a week long and is designed for 8-13 year olds. At the camp, kids learn basic care and responsibility for pets, respect for animals, and the beginnings of dog training—all while having fun with friends! Younger kids (8-10) will participate in animal related games, activities and crafts. They will also learn the basics of dog handling and training, plus much more. Older campers (11-13) will also participate in animal related crafts and activities, watch a surgery, see dog training demos, and do obedience and agility training with shelter dogs.

CIT

There is also a wonderful opportunity for graduated campers! Anyone who is between the ages of 14-16 and has attended spcaLA's summer camp in the past may apply to be a Camp Counselor In Training (CIT). If you are interested in learning more about this, please CLICK HERE.

Currently, all Counselor in Training (CIT) positions are filled. Thank you for your interest in becoming a CIT for the spcaLA Friends for Life Summer Camp. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a CIT or wish to find out about future CIT options, please contact Melanie Wagner at (310) 676-1149, ext 228 or mwagner@spcaLA.com.

Registration Completion

After your registration is complete and your child has been accepted, a confirmation packet will be emailed to you. The confirmation packet will include a confirmation of the camp dates and requirements; please check this information carefully to ensure that your child is registered for the correct session.
