Since 1877, spcaLA has been providing quality service to the animal and community in and around Los Angeles. As a nonprofit animal welfare agency, spcaLA leads the pack with innovative programs that help animals and people in need. This would not be possible without our dedicated staff of animal welfare professionals.
spcaLA has many different departments within the agency specializing in particular areas of animal care, adoptions, education and support functions. The Animal Protection Services (APS) division is made up of the law enforcement division and disaster response team. Companion Animal Services (CAS) operates the shelters, veterinary division, foster program and is responsible for the animal adoption program at spcaLA. The Humane Education (HE) division speaks to young people at local schools about humane pet ownership issues and runs the nationally recognized TLC program, designed for at-risk youth who may be lacking in self esteem and/or empathy towards others. Our fund development department is responsible for keeping the revenue/donations coming in, and works tirelessly on grants to support our many valuable programs. In addition to the many agency department mentioned here, the public relations, accounting, human resources and volunteer departments make up the core support team helping to keep spcaLA operating as one of the finest SPCAs in the world!
