COURSE DESCRIPTION

Canine Welfare & Rehabilitation Course

This is an in-depth course that is of particular interest to anyone involved in shelter and rescue work. This course has been run as an in-house teaching course by most of the leading animal charities in the United Kingdom and abroad, including the United States, and covers dog behavior as applied to adoption centers, rescues and re-homes. It gives a fascinating insight into applied canine behavior as it handles some of the most pressing and daunting issues facing rescue centers.

abused dogDue to increasing legal pressures facing many animal charities in the U.K., it has become crucial for staff to temperament-test dogs prior to placement . These same dilemmas are becoming a concern of organizations in the U.S.A.  Most of the temperament tests used in the U.K and now adopted by UFAW (Universities Federation for Animal Welfare) were pioneered by John Rogerson.

rescued puppyThe course focuses on rehabilitation of problem dogs. It will involve hands-on work with dogs (as time permits) during the course. We will do our best to give priority to those working and volunteering in the field of canine placement and rehabilitation.
