What is the Junior Girl Scout Patch Workshop?
spcaLA is pleased to offer a Junior Girl Scout (8-11 years old) Pet Care Patch. Earning the Pet Care Patch will help Junior Girl Scouts understand more about animals, learn responsible ways to care for pets, and encourage them to help others in the community.
This workshop provides Junior Girl Scouts with an opportunity to complete all but two requirements for the Pet Care Patch. Click here to see the complete list of requirements.
Are you a leader for a group of Brownies or Cadettes? Please contact us. Priority registration is given to Junior troops but if you lead a troop of scouts other than a Juniors, contact us to determine space availability and/or appropriateness of registration.
What requirements must be completed before participating in the workshop?
In order to receive the spcaLA Pet Care Patch, Activity #2: Be Responsible and Activity #9: Book It are required. It is recommended that your group complete these activities prior to attending the workshop. If that is not possible, patches will be sent to the troop leader upon completion of all required activities.
Workshop activities include topics:
• Add It Up;
• Facts of Life;
• Animal Talk.
What is the cost of the workshop and what does that include?
The workshop includes a tour of our animal adoption facilities, materials for activities, a Pet Care Patch with spcaLAinsignia, and snacks and refreshments. There is a $10 donation per child to cover the cost of materials and patches.
What is the size capacity of the workshop?
In order to reach as many Girl Scouts as possible, there is a minimum requirement of six girls to attend each workshop. Workshops can hold a maximum of 35 students. Multiple troops may attend the same workshop.
