Ride Pacific Park's Famous Ferris Wheel for Free and
Help Homeless and Abused Animals
Santa Monica - Looking for a fun and rewarding event to attend this weekend? Ride the Pacific Wheel Ferris wheel at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier for FREE and help homeless and abused animal of Southern California in the process. On Sunday, May 4 th from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Southern California residents can ride the Pacific Wheel for free. During that time, Pacific Park will donate $1 for every rider on the Pacific Wheel to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA).
spcaLA will be on hand for the event providing helpful hints on the care and raising of animals. spcaLA mascot, "Jefferson," will also be in attendance and will provide photo opportunities for friends, families and children.
"Pacific Park has been gracious in inviting spcaLA to work with them while they recognize our community with the Pacific Wheel celebration," said spcaLA President Madeline Bernstein. "Donations from local businesses, like Pacific Park, are so important because there is no national SPCA or humane society that provides support."
The event is being held to celebrate the last day of the current Pacific Wheel. After 12 years and over 3 million rides the Ferris wheel will be taken down. Pacific Park will be replacing it with an all-new, $1.5 million contemporary Ferris wheel from May 5 through May 22. A grand opening celebration is scheduled the evening of Thursday, May 22 to welcome the new Ferris wheel to the community. For more information, visit pacpark.com.
Celebrating over 130 years , spcaLA is an independent, nonprofit animal welfare organization serving Southern California. There is no national SPCA, parent organization, or umbrella group that provides financial support to spcaLA. Donations run programs and services including Cruelty Investigation, Disaster Animal Response Team, Humane Education, and a variety of shelter services.
