spcaLA Swears in Humane Officer
spcaLA Seeks Additional Humane Officers
Los Angeles CA – Today is a banner day for Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA). At 10am in a small ceremony at spcaLA headquarters, spcaLA Captain David Harvard swore in a new Humane Officer, the first female officer in 6 years.
“This is an exciting and important day in our organization’s history. We are swearing in the first new humane officer since 2004 and the first female officer since 2003,” said spcaLA President, Madeline Bernstein. “More officers translate into helping more animals in need and becoming a larger community presence throughout Los Angeles.”
spcaLA has been caring for and defending animals since 1877. This past year, spcaLA’s Law Enforcement Division protected 6,740 animals as they responded to 1,187 animal cruelty complaints. Cases were resolved through corrective action, education, referral and prosecution.
In 2010, spcaLA will continue to build its Law Enforcement Division. When so many agencies are scaling back, spcaLA is actively seeking a Director of Operations and additional Humane Officers. More information about job duties and requirements can be found at www.spcaLA.com
