Keep Your Holidays Merry

spcaLA Offers Tips for a Safe Holiday

» December 22, 2011

Los Angeles, CA– The holiday season is a joyous time filled with fun and family.  Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) reminds everyone to safeguard pets from hazards that may go unnoticed.  The last place you or your pet wants to spend the holidays is in an emergency hospital.  spcaLA offers the following easy safety tips to ensure your holidays are merry and bright:

"According to statistics, the most joyous time of year is unfortunately one of the most dangerous times for pets,” said spcaLA President Madeline Bernstein.  “Taking some easy precautionary measures is the best way to ensure that you and your pet will have a happy and healthy holiday season.”

Rather than purchase an animal as a surprise gift that the recipient may not be ready for, spcaLA encourages you to buy a gift certificate from either of spcaLA’s Pet Adoption Centers or at www.spcaLA.com that can be redeemed at any time.  That, along with a book about pet care would make a great gift as well as beginning the journey of responsible pet ownership.  If now is the right time to expand your family with a new pet, please remember there are many wonderful animals at shelters throughout Southern California who would love a home.
