Spay/Neuter Clinic

Specialty Spay/Neuter Center sponsorship opportunities

Every year, an estimated 75,000 companion animals are euthanized by Los Angeles County Shelters. Unchecked pet reproduction has lead to overcrowded shelters and soaring abandonment rates - leading the Los Angeles Pet Overpopulation problem to crisis.

The spcaLA Specialty Spay/Neuter Center is set to ease pet overpopulation, by addressing the issue at its source. With a goal of performing 50 surgeries per day - about 12,000 per year - in addition to providing vaccinations, microchipping and education, the spcaLA Specialty Spay/Neuter Center will serve Los Angeles' most underserved communities.

The success of the center rests in the hands of our generous donors. While all gifts are welcome and necessary, the following areas represent the greatest needs for the spcaLA Specialty Spay/Neuter Center.

Renovations: Built in the late 1940s, the clinic will be located at our old Jefferson Boulevard Shelter. In addition to the expected construction, spcaLA replaced sections of the roof and ventilation system, among other things. A donation of $200,000 would offset the costs already expended on the project and provide for further renovating.

Low-Cost Spay and Neuter Subsidies: The areas of Los Angeles we intend to serve comprise many individuals living at or below the US poverty level. While we offer a rate card lower than average as compared to area veterinarians, we intend to offer assistance to those demonstrating financial need. A donation of $150,000 would provide financial assistance for a full year.

Community Outreach: To make the clinic as successful as possible, spcaLA needs to reach the community through local events, conferences, mailings and advertising. A donation of $100,000 would help us educate the public about the need for and availability of spay and neuter services.

General Operating Support: Gifts of general operating support are always welcome, as they can be used for the most pressing needs - be it purchasing new equipment or responding to a heavier-than-anticipated influx of animals. A gift of $75,000 would provide for one year of operating support.

Consumable Goods: Performing 12,000 surgeries per year will mean the clinic will quickly run through our initial supply of consumable goods - like needles, anesthesia and vaccinations. A donation of $50,000 would provide ongoing consumable goods.
