We need heat.
While heating may be unglamorous and the last thing on your mind as we approach triple-digits, it is an urgent need at the spcaLA South Bay Pet Adoption Center.
Consider a dog who’s half-starved and has run stray for too long or a kitten recovering from spay surgery – they need warmth. They need more than just fluffy blankets and dog sweaters – they need a stable, modern heating system.
And, we need your help to get it. To donate, click here.
Before summer ends too quickly and cool ocean breezes give way to a wet, cold winter for shelter pets, we need to raise $60,000 to replace the half-century-old heating system at the South Bay Pet Adoption Center.
Abandoned and abused animals come to the Center in need of a warm, safe place to rest and recuperate. We give them nourishing food, clean water, life-saving medical care and plenty of kindness, respect and affection. And, once they’ve healed, we help our shelter pets find permanent, loving homes.
Opened in 1958, the Center is spcaLA’s oldest operating animal shelter. Through the years, we have remodeled and updated the facility – incorporating an open-air cattery, indoor-outdoor dog dens, and an off-leash exercise yard, among other amenities to improve the lives of our shelter pets. But, our original heating system is no longer functional, and cannot be repaired.
Please, give as generously as you can so that we may continue to provide a warm, safe place for the homeless, abandoned and abused animals in our community.
