The PAWS to Read Program at the Redondo Beach Public Library provides a non-threatening place where children can read for the fun of it. There is no risk of being embarrassed by mispronounced words, slow reading skills or lack of comprehension skills when reading to a therapy dog!
Students participating in PAWS to Read gain self confidence and develop pride in their accomplishments. They find reading more fun, and feel more comfortable volunteering to read aloud at school.
PAWS to Read is hosted by spcaLA on the 4th Saturday of each month from 10:30–12 noon at the Redondo Beach Main Library. The program is free and open to the public. Sign-ups begin at 9am on the day of the program at the Children’s Information Desk. Space is limited.
