What is the procedure to board my pet at the spcaLA Pet Hotel?
Boarding of cats and dogs is available to anyone who donates $75 or more in a 12 month period. Your pets must be non-aggressive and in good health. Please refer to Boarding Policies & Recommendations for more information.

Why do I have to make a donation in order to board my pet?
spcaLA’s programs and services are funded by the generosity of our donors. As a thank you, we are pleased to offer access to the Pet Hotel, a boutique boarding facility that provides individualized attention for your pets. Donate online now.

I’m a donor, now what?
Thank you for your support! To secure a reservation, you will need to provide current proof of vaccinations and a completed boarding contract for each pet. We recommend that reservations are made at least a month in advance. Please refer to Boarding Policies & Recommendations for more information.

My reservation was secured and today is my drop-off day. What should I know?
Please bring dogs on leash and cats in a secured carrier. Your pets must wear a collar with current identification tags at all times. The Pet Hotel does not allow retractable leashes, prong, pinch, or electric collars in the facility.

I have two cats or two dogs, can I board them together?
Our dog kennels can accommodate two dogs and our cat condos can accommodate two cats. Unfortunately, we are not able to house cats and dogs together.

Can I bring my pet’s food, bed, toys, and treats?
All of the above! Having familiar items may make your pet feel more secure, so please bring them. Be aware that we do not allow raw meat diets, rawhides, bones, or tennis balls. If you choose not to bring food or if the food you’ve provided runs out, the Pet Hotel offers Canidae chicken meal and rice formula dry food at no extra cost.

What if my animal is on medication or becomes ill?
Please call the Pet Hotel prior to securing your reservation to determine if we are able to administer your pets’ medications. If so, we are happy to do so for an additional $5 per day. In the event that your pet is exhibiting signs of illness, we will contact you immediately and will follow the protocol that is specified in your contract.

How often are the kennel or condos cleaned? What about my pet’s belongings?
Kennels and condos are cleaned with disinfectant daily. Spot checks are administered throughout the day to remove waste. If any of your pet’s items are soiled, then they will be cleaned.

How often does my dog leave the kennel or my cat leave the condo? Is my pet supervised 24 hours a day?
Our canine guests receive two bathroom breaks daily. Our feline guests receive atrium time if “Cat Atrium Sessions” are requested. Additional play sessions and other add-ons are available; please refer to Rates & Services for details. For the protection of your pet, he will not interact with other boarded animals or spcaLA shelter pets. The spcaLA Pet Hotel is staffed from 8am-5:30pm Wednesday through Friday and from 7:30am-4:30pm Saturday through Tuesday. After hours, there is at least one P.D. Pitchford Companion Animal Village staff person on campus.

Do you offer any promotions or coupons?
Yes, we do! As a valued customer, we may email you special offers or you can sign-up for the spcaLA newsletter. The newsletter often includes promotions for the spcaLA Pet Hotel, Grooming Salon, and Marketplace. You can also find coupons on the spcaLA website; download our latest coupons here. Guests of the Pet Hotel who book Exit Baths at the adjoining spcaLA Grooming Salon, will receive a discount. Exit baths are performed within 24 to 48 hours of departure and include shampoo, brush out, blow dry, and cologne. For more details and pricing, please refer to Rates & Services.

When can I pick up my pets?
You may pick-up pets Wednesday through Friday from 9am-5:30pm, Saturday and Sunday from 9am-4:30pm, and Mondays from 8:30am-10:30am. Please be aware we charge a late pick-up fee for any pick-up after 12 noon. The cost of the late pick-up fee is the cost of another night of boarding.

Can someone else pick up my pet?
Yes, you may authorize someone other than yourself to pick up your pet. A name must be provided by the drop-off date. Authorized persons must show proper identification.

Can I visit my pets while they are being boarded?
It is less stressful for your pets when they are boarded without interruption from their human companions, so visits are not permitted.
