Hurricane Harvey Disaster Response

spcaLA’s Disaster Animal Response Team (DART)™ deployed its first wave of responders to Hurricane Harvey on September 2, 2017.

Since deploying, members have cared for hundreds of animals displaced by the storm. Animals are being transported to multiple locations in the area. These animals need food, water, veterinary care, a place to rest and recover, and TLC.

It is apparent that the effects of Harvey are devastating, and recovery efforts will last for months to come. spcaLA intends to send teams of DART members to Houston, in rotation, to prevent fatigue and also ensure that members are available in Los Angeles.

Donor support is what provides the vehicles, equipment, supplies, training, and staffing necessary to maintain spcaLA’s elite response team.
