spcaLA’s Friends for
spcaLA’s Friends for Life Summer Camp™ is a week-long day camp designed for 8-13 year olds. At camp, kids learn basic care and responsibility for pets, respect for animals, and the beginnings of dog training — all while having fun with friends! Younger kids (8–10) participate in animal-related games, activities and crafts. They also learn the basics of animal handling and dog training, plus much more. Older campers (11–13) also participate in animal-related crafts and activities, see dog training demos, and learn obedience and agility training with shelter dogs.
This summer, the Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program has expanded into a separate age group for 14-17 year olds! CITs will explore animal-related careers, participate in more advanced dog training, assist with the care of our shelter pets, and develop leadership skills as they guide younger campers through various camp activities. The CIT program is a great opportunity for past campers who want to continue building on their camp experience, as well as 14-17 year old animal lovers joining us for the first time!

HOWCreate an account for each camper or CIT you wish to register. Registration is available online only, starting at 10am on April 17th. Once your registration is complete, detailed camp information will be emailed to you. This information will include confirmation of the camp dates and requirements; please check this information carefully to ensure that your child is properly registered.
Camp is for children ages 8 and up only. If your child is not 8 years old by the start of his or her session, he or she will not be allowed to attend. No exceptions will be made. Proof of birth certificate may be required if it is suspected that your child is younger than 8 years old.
There are three age groups at camp: 8-10 years old (Beagles), 11-13 years old (Boxers), and 14-17 years old (CITs). Campers in the Boxers age group must turn 11 before the start of their session, and CITs must turn 14 before the start of their session. No exceptions will be made. If your 11-year-old or 14-year-old child wants to attend camp with a friend who is not yet in their age group, please register your child for the younger age group.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU THIS SUMMER!
