spcaLA Virtual TLC Series

Meet new friends while learning how to help the animals in your home and community! Virtual TLC is a 3-week humane education program open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students at schools throughout LA County. The program consists of Group Activity Sessions and optional Dog Training Sessions, both of which will meet online through Zoom at 3:30pm on their scheduled days.

Group Activity Sessions
This portion of the program includes get-to-know-you activities, games, home-made enrichment for pets, and discussions about what animals in our homes and communities need. Group activity sessions are 1-hour TWICE a week for the 3-weeks of the program.

Dog Training Sessions
This portion of the program will cover positive reinforcement (rewards-based) methods to teach pet dogs fun tricks and helpful manners. Dog training sessions are an optional addition to the program for students who have at least one pet dog they can follow along with at home. Each dog training session is 45-minutes ONCE a week for the 3-weeks of the program.

After successful completion of the Virtual TLC Series, participants will be invited to a private visit of spcaLA’s P.D. Pitchford Companion Animal Village & Education Center in Long Beach where they can tour the facility and meet shelter pets.
