Boarding Policies & Recommendations
spcaLA’s Pet Hotel is available to spcaLA members who have donated at the seventy-five ($75) U.S. dollar level or greater within the twelve months prior to the first day of boarding.
Our Boarding Policies and Recommendations are listed below to help make your pet’s stay with us a comfortable one. We offer indoor kennels—with outdoor access—for dogs. For our feline guests, we offer private, roomy cat condos.
HEALTH CARE & SAFETY
All pets must be in good general health to board. Dogs and cats must be a minimum of 4 months old and a maximum of 12 years old. Pets over the age of 12 will be accepted with a health certificate from a veterinarian. Any existing health problem (medical, physical or behavioral) requires advance review of the pet before reservations are accepted. Special medical requirements are subject to additional charges.
We do not allow retractable leashes in the Pet Hotel & Grooming Salon. Dogs must be on a clip leash.
We cannot accept any pregnant pets or females in heat. If a pre-entry exam cannot be performed on your pet due to aggression or behavioral issues, or if your pet has injured another pet or person, we will not be able to board your pet. All pets are observed regularly throughout the day. If urgent care is required, the pet will be transported to a veterinarian. Dogs must be brought in on a leash and wear a collar with identification. Cats must be brought in a carrier and must wear a collar with identification. spcaLA will provide and feed premium kibble routinely twice a day at no cost if no food is provided. We highly recommend bringing your own food to ensure consistency for your pet. We do not accept raw food diets.
If your pet requires administration of medications, vitamins, or supplements during their stay, please complete and present the Medication form and verify with Pet Hotel staff ahead of time. The spcaLA Pet Hotel does not administer injections. All medication that accompanies the pet must be in its original container. There is an additional charge for this service.
For the health and safety of our guests, all pets must be current on vaccinations prior to check-in. Vaccines must be administered by a licensed veterinarian at least one week prior to your pet’s stay. Rabies vaccination (1 or 3 year vaccines are acceptable), DHLPP vaccination (1 or 3 year vaccines are acceptable), and Bordetella vaccine (every 12 months) are required for dogs. Rabies vaccination (1 or 3 year vaccines are acceptable) and FVRCP vaccination (1 or 3 year vaccines are acceptable) are required for cats. Vaccination records must be faxed to (562) 570-3083 prior to stay or delivered on day of arrival.
spcaLA and the Veterinary Public Health Dept. recommends that all dogs who are frequently exposed including but not limited to, travel, competitions, boarding, and group play activities should be vaccinated against canine influenza, including H3N2.
LENGTH OF STAY
spcaLA recommends reservations are made at least one month in advance. The maximum board time is 30 days or one month. Please notify us of any changes or to cancel your reservation. Pets picked-up before 12:00 noon will not be charged for that day. Pets picked-up after 12:00 noon will be charged an additional day of boarding. spcaLA will not release your pet to anyone but you without prior written notification.
DEPOSIT & CANCELLATION POLICY
A deposit for the first nights stay with a major credit card is required at the time the reservation is made. spcaLA reserves the right to determine an appropriate deposit based on the length of the reserved stay. Cancellations require 72 hour notice. If a 72 hour notice is not provided, your deposit is non-refundable.
If your pet bites a person, a bite report will be filed with Long Beach Animal Care Services and your pet will be quarantined in accordance with state and local laws and daily boarding fees may apply. If your pet tries to bite an employee, he will remain in his kennel until pick-up date. During this time, your pet will not receive daily bathroom breaks.
To make a reservation, please call (562) 206-1375 or email us at boardgroom@spcaLA.com. Requested days for boarding cannot be secured until a boarding contract or repeat boarding contract is completed and received, and deposit has been processed. Contracts may be faxed to (562) 570-3083 or returned in person to:
