Dedicated to the prevention of animal cruelty through Education, Law Enforcement, Intervention, and Advocacy, spcaLA focuses on shelter animals’ quality of life. As the Director of Veterinary Services, you will make a direct impact on the lives of abandoned, abused, and neglected animals by managing herd health, supporting animal cruelty investigations, managing our medical staff, and more.

  • Facilitate care for animals at limited-intake shelters.
  • Provide expert testimony for animal cruelty cases.
  • Serve on spcaLA’s Disaster Animal Response Team (DART)™ and more!

As the Director of Veterinary Services, you’ll enjoy competitive wages and excellent benefits (including 401K with matching). This is a full-time, exempt position, working out of all spcaLA Pet Adoption Centers.

Essential qualifications: Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM); license in good standing with California State Veterinary Board; license with Drug Enforcement Agency; 5 years practical experience as a veterinarian (shelter environment preferred); practical experience in a supervisory role. Ability to hold and maintain premise permits for all sheltering locations during employment.
