Jellybeans’ 1 Year Anniversary

February 25, 2022

After one year in the shelter, dog still looking for a home

Los Angeles, CA–Today is the one-year anniversary of Jellybeans’ status as “available for adoption” at Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA). Despite this dubious distinction, the 5-year-old tan & white Pit Bull mix remains in good spirits. spcaLA staff and volunteers are hopeful she will find that special someone who will change her status to “happy in home.”

Adopt Jellybeans

Jellybeans’ caretakers describe her as “an easy going gal” who (once she settles in) is the ideal couch potato. She aims to please, and is cuddly, affectionate, and gentle. Jellybeans spent the past year honing her obedience skills with spcaLA’s Training Department. She walks well on-leash, engages in verbal requests, and knows sit, stay, down, look, wait, and is working on crawl. Jellybeans enjoys the company and affection of her human friends, and will thrive in a home where she can have all the attention as the only pet.

“Sometimes, it takes a while to find the perfect fit,” said Madeline Bernstein, spcaLA President. “We do our best to make their time with us enjoyable, but nothing replaces a home.” All shelter pets receive enrichment and training, nourishment, veterinary care and TLC during their stay.

Jellybeans is one of a handful of dogs who have been at spcaLA for a year or longer. Amy (7-year-old Pit Bull mix), Lola (4-year-old Pit Bull mix), and Roxy (7-year-old Rottweiler mix) are also patiently waiting for their chance. Hope springs from success stories, like Melvin. Melvin, a 3-year-old, black, Pit Bull mix was with spcaLA 667 days before he was adopted in March of 2021.
