Adopt Two and Second Fee Waived
Los Angeles, CA — March is Adopt a Guinea Pig Month and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) announces an adoption promotion aimed at finding homes for these small and charming companions. Interested adopters who adopt two guinea pigs will have the second fee waived. The adoption fee for guinea pigs is $15.

Guinea Pigs or “piggies” do well in same-sex pairs and are known for their gentle nature and sociable personalities. Guinea Pigs can be clicker trained to perform tricks, like high-five, spin, or come. A guinea pig expresses their happiness by “popcorning” or jumping straight into the air.
spcaLA has a guide to guinea pig care, but generally they need large, solid bottom cages with plenty of Timothy Hay for bedding, a hutch for hiding, balls or toys to play with, and a chew for their teeth, which grow continuously. They also need plenty of fresh clean water, kibble, a small amount of fresh fruits and veggies daily, and oranges or a vitamin C supplement to keep them healthy.
Interested adopters can view piggies online or better yet visit them in person at spcaLA’s Pet Adoption Centers. Double the love and make a difference for guinea pigs in need. spcaLA pet adoption centers locations and hours:
