Kitten ‘Eloise’ safe at spcaLA

Los Angeles, CA — Community and compassion united on Monday to help a tiny passenger traveling alone on the L.A. Metro Green Line. A one-month-old kitten, now named Eloise, was discovered by a fellow metro rider who alerted the train operator. Eloise was safely transported by Metro personnel to the spcaLA South Bay Pet Adoption Center in Hawthorne.

At spcaLA South Bay, Eloise received an examination by medical staff and appears to be in good condition. She was very hungry and wasted no time devouring a bowl of kitten food. Now she’s safe in an spcaLA Foster Volunteer’s home where she will remain for about four weeks. When she is old enough, she will be available for adoption.

Eloise is a 1-pound, mostly white tabby with three gray dots on her coat (one dot for each person who helped her). While her origins remain a mystery, her future is clear: a permanent, loving home where she can thrive and bring joy to those around her.

“Eloise serves as a reminder to be compassionate towards our furry friends, even in unexpected places,” said Madeline Bernstein, President spcaLA. “To the Metro employees and the passenger: thank you! You saved a life.”

It is officially “kitten season” in Los Angeles, and spcaLA is seeing more and more kittens coming to the shelters in litters, alone, or with their mothers. spcaLA needs supplies, funds, and foster parents to care for them.
