Housing available for owned pets displaced by Altadena Fire

Los Angeles, CA — The relentless fires in Southern California have displaced thousands of residents and their pets, creating an urgent need for resources to ensure the safety and well-being of affected animals. Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) answered the call for aid from Pasadena Humane Society, providing shelter space, supplies, and trained staff to accommodate the overflow of animals.

spcaLA began accepting pets displaced by the Altadena Fire at 8am this morning. The spcaLA Pet Adoption Center in Los Angeles quickly filled with dozens of dogs, cats and a 30-year-old parrot whose families had evacuated. spcaLA is working to accommodate additional pets from the Pasadena Humane Society at the spcaLA PD Pitchford Companion Animal Village & Education Center in Long Beach.

There is LIMITED space for owned pets who need shelter. Those fleeing the Altadena fire may call 323-730-5300 for pet housing assistance. Please call ahead to ensure there is space available.

Those who would like to help these life-saving efforts may donate to spcaLA.com/donate or drop-off food to any spcaLA location, during business hours. Community members can also assist by adopting animals to help create more space for incoming evacuees.
