spcaLA Assists Pasadena Humane Society with Animal Care

Los Angeles, CA–Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) is sending members of their Disaster Animal Response Team (DART) to assist Pasadena Humane Society with the care of pets of evacuees. Due to the heavy rains and danger of mudslides, many residents have placed their pets in temporary housing. This is addition to the hundreds of pets in the facility due to the Eaton Fire.

spcaLA staff will assist with routine care including nutrition, water, and enrichment of animals at the Pasadena Humane Society from February 15th through 19th, and is at the ready to extend the deployment if necessary.

spcaLA formed DART in 1995 in response to the Northridge Earthquake. Since then, the team has deployed to numerous wildfires including the 2009 Station and the 2018 Woolsey Fires, and Hurricanes Rita, Katrina, Ike, and Harvey.
