Chicks reunite
Los Angeles, CA — Good news! The system worked as intended and a very special pet reunited with her worried and frantic family yesterday afternoon at Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA). Pet owners know the awful feeling of panic that sets in when their pet goes missing. ‘Where are they?’ ‘Are they injured?’ ‘Will I ever see them again?’ Now imagine your beloved pet is a chicken!

Goldie reunites with her bestie
Goldie, for reasons only she knows, escaped her sanctuary with the Gonzales family and was picked up by the fuzz (her words) on November 21st. City of Lynwood Animal Control transported her to spcaLA South Bay Pet Adoption Center in Hawthorne, where she found her accommodations “adequate” (again, her words). spcaLA staff declared that Goldie was the “most beautiful chicken they had ever seen.” High praise, indeed.
The Gonzales family noticed Goldie was missing, which was particularly distressing to their young daughter. A call to Lynwood Animal Control confirmed that yes, Goldie has been picked up and was at spcaLA. The Gonzaleses came to claim her and a happy reunion ensued (the moment, captured on video). Goldie is safe at home once again. Here’s hoping she has no more run-ins with the law.
spcaLA South Bay Pet Adoption Center provides housing for lost animals for the cities of Culver City, El Segundo, Gardena, Hermosa Beach, Lawndale, Lynwood, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, and West Hollywood. Lost pets can be viewed on their website at spcaLA.com/lost-pets.
