Los Angeles, CA –A five-month-old Husky puppy named Nutella is now available for adoption at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) after recovering from life‑changing surgery.
Nutella arrived at spcaLA in March 2026 with a a front right leg that curled inward toward his chest. Following a thorough evaluation, spcaLA’s Veterinary Services team determined that the leg could not be corrected nor would it grow as he aged. In the best interests of Nutella’s long-term health, comfort, and mobility, spcaLA’s medical team performed a limb amputation.
“Having surgery is scary in the best of circumstances. Treating animals onsite when we are able reduces stress and supports a faster, smoother recovery,” said spcaLA President, Madeline Bernstein. “Thanks to our generous donors, spcaLA has the ability to perform surgeries like Nutella’s in-house.” spcaLA is a non-profit organization that relies on donations for the medical needs of shelter pets.
Post-surgery, Nutella convalesced in the home of an spcaLA Foster Volunteer. Foster homes provide calm, nurturing environments that can improve an animal’s recovery time and aid in their success. spcaLA welcomes applicants to its Foster Program at spcaLA.com/foster.
Today, Nutella is fully healed and thriving. Stronger and faster than ever, he is a beautiful Husky with a striking red-and-grey coat and an abundance of puppy energy, playfulness, and charm. Nutella does not let having three legs slow him down one bit.
Adopters interested in meeting Nutella can find him online at spcaLA.com/adopt or visit him in person at the spcaLA Pet Adoption Center, located at 5026 W. Jefferson Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90016.
Through May 17th, adoption fees are reduced to $50 for dogs three months and older and $20 for cats of all ages for qualified adopters. Learn more at spcaLA.com/events.
