spcaLA investigators followed up on a report left by a concerned party on the Animal Cruelty Tipline. Jake and Joey lived primarily in the outdoor areas of a home on Volney Drive in Los Angeles. Upon arrival, investigators found both dogs to be victims of long-term neglect with extensive hair loss, untreated skin issues, and were living with heavily matted and dirty fur in unsanitary conditions. Officers directed the owner to provide the necessary care within 48 hours, after which they accepted the owner’s surrender of the two dogs and immediately brought them to a local veterinary hospital for assessment.

Since then, Jake & Joey have been under the care of spcaLA Medical staff.

spcaLA Animal Cruelty Investigations expect to submit the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution

Jake & Joey are bonded and must be adopted together. Anyone interested in adopting the duo should visit spcaLA.com/adopt.
