spcaLA and Petco Love Partner for Free Pet Vaccination Event

Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) will provide free vaccinations for pets. The free vaccines are made possible through Petco Love’s new national vaccination initiative, which is providing 1 million free pet vaccines to its existing animal welfare partners, including spcaLA, for family pets in need.

Free/Low Cost Vaccince Clinic March 26th

spcaLA’s Free/Low Cost Vaccine Clinic is March 26th from 10am-1pm at the spcaLA South Bay Pet Adoption Center, 12910 Yukon Ave., Hawthorne, CA. During the clinic, spcaLA Veterinary Staff will administer FREE DAPPv (dogs), FREE HCP Feline (cats), and $10 rabies (dogs & cats). This is a complete list of services offered at this clinic.

Parvovirus and distemper in dogs, and panleukopenia in cats, are some of the most prevalent deadly diseases impacting pets that are preventable with a simple vaccine. An estimated 30% of pet parents do not take their pet to a veterinarian annually for preventative care. To address this critical need, spcaLA and Petco Love are partnering to make pet vaccines free and accessible in an effort to ensure the health and wellness of our beloved pets.

“Thanks to Petco Love, we can offer DAPPv and HCP Feline at no cost to pet owners,” said Madeline Bernstein, spcaLA President. “Come to spcaLA South Bay this Saturday and take advantage of this free resource for your pets.”

“It is heartbreaking when any pet suffers or dies from a disease that could have been prevented. It is further exacerbated when unvaccinated pets come into busy shelter kennels, where these deadly diseases can spread quickly, resulting in multiple deaths, skyrocketing expenses, and hindering saving pet lives,” said Susanne Kogut, Petco Love President. “By creating greater awareness and making this crucial preventative care more accessible to pets not currently receiving these lifesaving vaccines, we can prevent the dangerous spread of disease.”

Dogs must be on a secure collar and leash. Cats must be in a cat carrier. Pet parents should have their vaccine records and payment (cash or credit) handy. Clients should expect to wait in a socially distanced line and fill out paperwork on a clipboard.

The clinic will be held outdoors. The exam area will be sanitized after each patient, and hand-sanitizer will be available throughout. Masks are mandatory and must be worn over the mouth and nose at all times. Please stay home if you are feeling ill or if you or someone you have recently had contact with has been diagnosed with or shown symptoms of COVID-19.
