Los Angeles, CA (11/06/19) — Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) praises the United States Senate for unanimously approving Preventing Animal Cruelty & Torture Act (PACT), which criminalizes certain acts of animal cruelty. The bipartisan bill, was passed Tuesday afternoon, will be sent to the President for signature.
The bill defines cruel conduct as it pertains to animal crushing videos, and expands the reach of the Federal Government to prosecute such conduct whether or not a film is made.
“Since 1877, spcaLA has been upholding animal cruelty laws,” said Madeline Bernstein, spcaLA President. “Thanks to Congress, we now have one more weapon in our arsenal to combat animal abuse.”
