Available for adoption now!

Los Angeles, CA –Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) has welcomed dogs from the San Diego Humane Society (SDHS) to help alleviate shelter capacity following a recent large-scale animal seizure conducted by SDHS. The operation resulted in the intake of hundreds of animals, including approximately 30 dogs.

This transfer marks the fourth time this spring that spcaLA has responded to a call for support by a fellow animal welfare organization facing a surge in animal intake after a major rescue operation. In March, spcaLA’s Disaster Animal Response Team (DART) assisted Los Angeles County Animal Services seize more than 300 animals in the Lake Hughes operation. Since then, spcaLA transferred three groups of adoptable dogs from LA County’s Castaic and Baldwin Park shelters.

“When situations like this arise, we provide support where we can,” said Madeline Bernstein, President of spcaLA. “That may mean providing mutual aid, transferring animals into our care, or deploying highly trained staff to assist during rescue efforts.”

Dog transferred from SDHS are available for adoption now at the spcaLA PD Pitchford Companion Animal Village & Education Center in Long Beach. The most recent group of dogs from LA County will be available for adoption on Saturday, May 30th. For shelter hours and to view adoptable pets online, visit spcaLA.com.
