Wild Goose Chase at Tigers Stadium

spcaLA Responds

Los Angeles, CA – A goose flew into the scoreboard at Comerica Stadium in Detroit on Wednesday, after groundskeepers threw two firecrackers and chased him in attempt to get him to fly away. The Canadian goose fell two levels to the ground, but survived the ordeal. Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) contends better preparation could have prevented this incident.

“We believe staff should consult with wildlife experts in the area ahead of time to establish protocols that humanely remove wildlife,” said spcaLA President, Madeline Bernstein. “Whether it be coyotes, mountain lions — or in this case, a goose, we must strive to find ways to peacefully co-exist.”

A veterinarian was in attendance and came to the goose’s aid. The goose appears to be fine and has been taken to a local wildlife rescue.
